LA by night

I am still learning how to capture night scenes with the correct shutter speed. It was a perfect opportunities for me to put this into practise. LA at night from the hill top of Griffin Observatory.

east meets west

I know Christmas has just gone past, but it's only few days! Hope you all had a dazling Christmas!! What did you do? eat eat eat and eat? food, food and more food?! Don't feel guilty, it's holidays anyway.. so just enjoy and forget about all the calories!!
I saw rather different style of 'Christmas tree' yesterday at China town LA. I think it is a christmas tree with Chinese decorations. Never seen anything like this before .. but i like it .. vibrant, 'morden', Christmas + Chinese New Year 'fusion'! This is what I call globalisation!

sub zero

If you lived in the UK, perhaps you are already living in this sub zero temperature with lots of snow falls especially this weekend! For some people it's joy, whereas some other finds it extremely hazardous. For me, it's my golden opportunity to take some lovely pictures! yay!

Woke up this morning expwct more snow to come, but it was dry, this is how it looks like off my windows, rather dissapointing..... haha.. i want more white stufffffff!

Big Freeze

It claims the coldest December in 100 years! I was excited about it, but now I am tired of it! Snow is pretty and fun and it actually does bring chaos!

This photo reminds me of something Christmas plus a dash a snow.. even it was very light, but it just feels festive.. Christmas is near ;). In fact this could go on someone's Christmas card! hmmm ideas.. inspirations .... I want more!

workshop

I had an interesting day today, went on a photography course/workshop, full day, ok 10am to 4pm, it actually overrun until 4:30pm. Learn something new, quite inspirational. I might go back for part 2 :)

bon fire night

5th Nov, it was Bon Fire Night aka Guy Fawkes day. It was FULL ON fireworks display for couple of days. Shame - this year the weather wasn't very good. But the show must go on!

trick or treat

Last day of October, it's Halloween! It is falling on Sunday this year, school off day, kids should be active out and about for treats! We just put our clock back today, I think I would spend more time adjusting my clock than dressing up like a witch! Well perhaps I could have some chocolates/sweets as my end of October treats! Oh needless to say, I am impressed with the Google's Halloween theme search page, Google never failed to impress me, well done! Anyway Happy Halloween :)

Another yellow/orangie leaves, this picture was taken while I went on a stroll during lunch break. Hmm this could actually make a good canvas wall display!

Golden

Another Autumn colour - yellow or golden leaves.

They are starting to fall, that is why it is the season of FALL! They can be seen on the ground now.....

red leaf

Not sure if this is the famous Canadian maple leaf, anyway it isn't the type, it is about the colour, nice to see this red leaf 'flying' around this time of the year.

green/yellow?

We can still see green leaves, it is the mixture of green/yellow at the moment, soon will be gone!

Most of the time, you can only see red leaves during autumn, perhaps it's only short few weeks, I grabbed the opportunity to shot more autumn colours. It is now red colour, will soon be gone.....

the seasons of colour

Autumn is calling! As we're entering October, it is the month of 'changing'!! As in leaves are changing colours, falling, you get the idea etc ...
I am trying to photograph and put up all the changing phases of october, stay tuned!

woods

Thinking of woods, thinking of california and canada, I always relate woods with the northern america's countries. Well I think there are similar places in the UK, this pictures was taken in Bedforshire, amazing geography.

Now, summer is 'officially' over for another year. Cold temperature is gradually coming back, it gets colder and colder everyday, I am still thinking of this ...

reflection

I really like the outcome of this picture, when I took this picture, i thought the composition of the whole scenery plus the reflection could make a good impact to the outcome and yet it did the job! I am well pleased with it =)

Books

Benefited from the Open Cambridge 2010, here is some of the libraries visit outcome ..... Some prestigeous books from the old libraries, eventhough visitors are not allowed to touch the books, but there are few for display.... and photography is ok, HURRAH! I thought it's nice to share .... and .... It is almost enough to make me go back to school. =)

Old Library

This is a month for 'open house', it is a yearly event, normally in September, I went to the Cambridge Open house on Saturday, nice to see some 16th cencury ( or maybe earlier ) building.

Pictures here show the St. John college Old library, very impressive .. books really old, though we are not allowed to touch the books. The room is not big, but good size.

Theatre

The Lowry Teatre, located at Salford Quay, Manchester. To me it looks similar to the LA Disney theatre, ok not that big, but it's like the little brother!

Manchester China Town

How many China Town are there out there? Is this the typical 'symbol' of China Town? I think most China Town in the UK has a 'main entrance' arch-like structure as shown in the pictures, it is one of the significant landmark of the China Town. Manchester China Town, it is the second largest China Town in the UK.

Brighton Beach

Another classic view you can see at the Brighton sea front! Nice! I miss that place .. ...

Brighton Beach

There is nowhere like this place, Brighton beach is very well known in southern England - East Sussex. The uniqueness of this place is there's no sand, it isn't a sand beach, but a stone beach. It's the first stone beach I've ever been.

a little bit of fun

I rarely see funfair in this large scale, it was good to see something like this. It's often give impression to people that funfairs are mostly associated to kids, but sometimes it is for adult too! Life is indeed very short, don't always let the kids have fun, adult too!!
